Remember to Say Thank You

St. Luke 17:17-18 And Jesus answering said, were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18. There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

The story of the ten leper is one that we need to learn the importance of gratitude to God and those around us. Jesus was deliberate in passing through Samaria on His way to Jerusalem. There was a Lepers Colony along the way and the lepers had heard that Jesus was passing that way. They were hopeful because they had heard about the miracles this man Jesus had done and prayed that He would be able to cleanse them of this dreaded disease.

Upon seeing Him they cried out for help, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” They had to shout from a distance because of their uncleanness. Leprosy had quarantine and isolated them from the society. But their call did not go unnoticed by the healer. “Go show yourselves to the Priest.” The bible said as the went they were healed. Another miracle done by our Lord.

With joy they hurried away but one upon seeing that he was healed turned back to say thank you. He had a heart of gratitude. The bible identifies him as a Samaritan. The other nine were Jews and did not see the need to say thank you. Hence the Samaritan had a double blessing bestowed on him by Jesus.

You see friends we traverse earth interacting and sharing with others. Some people have gone to great length to assist us and oftentimes there is no gratitude shown. Please remember to say thank you and don’t take people’s kindness for granted. Many of our family members are waiting on us to share our gratitude for their help. Thank you makes a difference to those who shows us love and God also is waiting for us to say thank you. Do not disappoint because an extra blessing is in store when we say thank you.
