There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were likegrasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”Numbers 13:33 (NKJV)
They had just been rescued out of 400 years of slavery. They had walked through the Red Sea and had watched the Egyptian army drowned. They had been miraculously guided through the wilderness and been promised a land flowing with milk and honey. Miracle after miracle, blessings after blessings, all they had to do was trust and obey God.
Now on the verge of entering the Promised Land, Moses and Aaron chose 12 men – the top leaders out of hundreds of thousands – to explore the land and see if God was telling the truth. Was the land fruitful and prosperous? These men of different tribes knew and had experience the working of their God.
After 40 days they returned with evidence: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit” (Numbers 13:27). But the report from ten of them was poor and faithless. Joshua and Caleb agreed that there were challenges but from their experience God is Able to give them the land of Canaan.
Is there evidence in your life of God’s promises fulfilled? A job, an education, a home, a relationship, a circle of friends? Maybe you should be divorced – and God healed your marriage. Maybe you should be in jail – and your case was thrown out. Maybe you should be dead – and you were healed.
Remember, these 12 men travelled throughout the same land. They saw the same things. But they came to two very different conclusions.Joshua and Caleb saw scary things and trusted God, encouraging the Israelites to believe God’s promises: “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome” (v. 30)The other 10 spies saw scary things and doubted God.
What is happening in your neck of the woods? Are there Giants in your land? If there are let me advise you that our God is Able. Look at His blessings in pass experiences and remember how He has led you. Run ahead the giants are already defeated and God has given us the victory. GLORY HALLELUJAH!
