Raging Storm, Sleeping Lord

Mark 4:39 (NKJV)Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

The gospel writer Mark in the latter part of chapter 4 stated that Jesus was in the boat with the disciples when suddenly a tempest arose. Jesus was fast asleep in the bottom of the boat while they toss and fight to save themselves from perishing. It was no ordinary storm; the enemy wanted to kill the Son of God and with Him sleeping in a boat here was a great opportunity for him to achieve his goal. The more they bailed out water the greater it came in and there seem to be no way out. Remember when there seem to be no way God has a way. The drama continues to unfold with fright, despair and anger they gave it their all until someone remembered that Jesus was on board and cried out “Master, carest thou not that we perish.”He arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace be Still” Immediately, instantaneously, at that very moment the storm checked.

What power our Lord has even over the storm and sea. My friend, we too often have raging storms in our sojourn here on earth. Sometimes these storms seem they will swallow us up into oblivion. But allow me to posit that if we have the Saviour on board even if He is asleep, He got the power to say, Peace be Still. It is better to have a sleeping Jesus in your live than walking around without Him in your heart.

My advice to you friends. Keep Jesus onboard because there is nothing that both of you together can’t deal with. Remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
