Genesis 22:7-8 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8. And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So, the two of them went together.
The Lord had promised Abraham a son and Isaac was born to them in their old age. The family was overjoyed by this miracle baby and looked forward to God continued blessings. Then it happened, the test. God instructed Abraham to give that son of promise as a sacrifice to Him.
The Bible said that Abraham obeyed. With two servants and his son Isaac he went to Mount Moriah to offered Isaac. The boy was curious; he saw the wood, he saw the fire but where was the sacrifice. When asked, the wise old Abraham said God will provide. This father was a man of faith, willing to obey God who had given him his son miraculously.
The story state that just before he too his son’s life God intervened and provided a ram caught in the thicket. God did provide like he said He would.
2018 is now behind us. We have had many challenges, but thanks be to God He provided. When we were jobless, He provided When we were penniless, He provided When we were hopeless, He provided When we were, spiritually bankrupt, He provided When we need a friend, He provided.
Oh, how we want to say thanks to God for our Ram caught in the thicket. Like Abraham we can say Jehovah- Jireh. Let us walk through 2019 with confidence knowing that our God will see us through. He will provide, yes, He will and with the provision comes our blessing.
